The Department of Urban Development convenes meeting for public housing: smart community’s progress report.
The Taipei City Government is planning to build 20000 households of public housing within 4 years, which 6 of the sites will be chosen as sample spaces. Besides Don Ming Public housing which has already begun construction, other 5 sites has finished the project management employing process. Taipei Deputy Mayor Charles Lin hosted the meeting on Friday afternoon, April 22th, collecting public housing smart communities’ planning ideas and progress reports from each management team. Department of Information Technology, Taipei Smart City Project management Office, Taipei Unified Bidding Center, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Education, Department of Environmental Protection, and Department of Economic Development were invited to join the discussion as well. Deputy Mayor Lin has stated that public housings include multivariate living to drive the surrounding economy and practice multiple purposes of smart communities including power saving, water saving, and community security. “Not only to achieve living justice, but also how to create an ICT practicable space”, “Experimenting in Taipei, implement the entire Taiwan, and then international output”, said Deputy Mayor Lin. He also expects The Department of Urban Development to accelerate the preparing progress for construction of public housings and communicate constantly with the locals, to pride excellent living environment for public housing as soon as possible. He stated that it is not only about Taipei City, the human resources, experiences, and data can be applied to the entire Taiwan, or even output internationally. A public seminar about contracting bidding will be held in the Mid of June, 2016, everyone is welcome to join. The 6 smart community sample site: Ming Lun Public House in Datong District, The Youth Troop Housing Site in Wanhua District, AB Corridor of Liuzhangli Troop Housing Site in Xinyi District, Kuang-Tzu Fraternity Park in Xinyi District, Rei Guang Market site in Neihu District, and Don Ming Public House in Nangang District are capable of constructing 6000 public households. Of which the Don Ming Public House in Nangang District was the first to practice smart community. The construction started in February 2016, and was planned together by Fortune Construction CO., Ltd and world famous Acer and ChungHwa Telecom and is expected to complete by the end of 2017. For Ming Lun Public House in Datong District, The Youth Troop Housing Site in Wanhua District, AB Corridor of Liuzhangli Troop Housing Site in Xinyi District, Kuang-Tzu Fraternity Park in Xinyi District, Rei Guang Market site in Neihu District the 5 sites, the construction bids will be uploaded before the end of this year, with total cost around $29 billion NTD, plus a 3%~5% on smart facilities on top of the construction cost. The major practice will be different within these sites including smart electricity grid, smart learning, smart living and shopping, smart community management, etc. Some households will be selected to practice distant caring technology with hospitals in response to the aging society problem now. The Taipei City Government expects the smart communities to achieve goals of saving human resources, driving the development of ICT industries, and saving energy; changing the public’s view on public housing by brining innovations to public houses.
