About KCC

The story shall begin from 400 years ago, the Ketagalan people were originally settled in Beitou, thus we now have the Ketagalan Culture Center established here. The term “Ketagalan” represents a totem symbol of lowland aborigines. Also, it covers the broader meaning of “indigenous people”.

The Ketagalan Culture Center was the first indigenous culture arts and education center within the country. To help preserve and promote indigenous culture and arts, the Indigenous People Commission, Taipei City Government strives for establishing the Center at the location of Beitou Garden SPA and the previous M.P. troops.

The Ketagalan Culture Center is crucial for passing down the culture, language, history, arts of the urban indigenous. It aims to reveal the advantages of indigenous culture arts and raise its visibility; establish indigenous people’s network and raise their competitiveness; and self-develop through culture and skill study, language education, information network and culture arts.

The short-term aims and objectives are to reform the image of the KCC, and rebuilt it s indigenous spirit and culture center. The middle-term aims and objectives focus on the appreciation and understanding of culture and arts, promote international communication, and become a new sightseeing landscape of Beitou. Finally, the long-term aims and objectives are to foster the lifelong management of the culture.
